Parent Training Project
Our sponsorship of a video-tape based parent training intervention with parents of children at risk for conduct disorder is in its sixth year. The curriculum, The Incredible Years, is recognized by SAMHSA's National Registry of Effective Programs as showing evidence of effectiveness for mental health promotion. In the last year we have also begun using the Making Parenting a Pleasure curriculum, which is designed for new parents
Classes are delivered in community settings in partnership with other agencies serving families, including Head Start, community colleges, elementary schools, a respite nursery and a church. Referrals come from a wide variety of local partners.
For the 2004-05 school year, we delivered 35 group series in 5 counties. Of the 466 parents enrolled, 278 completed the series. For the 2005-06 school year, 30 group series are planned with the goal of 312 parents completing.
Outcomes and parent satisfaction data are analyzed and communicated through the annual parent training report.
